Why SouthGrade exists

A large share of the grading and drainage problems across metro Atlanta were created by work that was done cheaply the first time. Fill dumped instead of compacted. Drains laid without filter fabric. Gravel tipped straight onto clay with no base under it. All of it looks acceptable for a season and fails by the second year.

SouthGrade was built to be the opposite of that. We do the invisible parts properly, because the invisible parts are the entire job.

How we work

  • One team, the whole job. Clearing, grading, drainage, demolition and hauling under one roof. No coordinating four trades and hoping their schedules line up.
  • Fixed written quotes. We come out, look properly, and give you a price that does not drift. The number you agree is the number you pay.
  • Georgia 811 on every single dig. No exceptions and no shortcuts, at least 48 hours ahead as state law requires.
  • We leave it clean. Debris goes in our trucks. Ground is graded and seeded. You should not be able to tell we were there apart from the thing we fixed.

Built for Georgia ground

Metro Atlanta takes more than fifty inches of rain a year — more than Seattle — and almost all of it lands on red clay that barely drains. Clay holds water, moves when it is wet, and silts up any drainage system not built to allow for it. Techniques that work perfectly well in sandier ground fail here within a few seasons. Everything we do is specified for that reality rather than borrowed from somewhere else.

Equipment

We run compact track loaders, dump trucks and trailers as our core fleet, and bring in specialist attachments and larger machines as individual jobs call for them. Tracks rather than wheels matter a great deal on wet Georgia clay, where a wheeled machine turns a yard into ruts. It also means we reach back gardens and tight intown lots that larger outfits turn down.

Why there is no email address

Deliberate. Ground work is visual and specific, and a five-minute phone call settles what three days of email cannot. Call and you will get a straight answer on whether we can help, what is involved, and when we could come out. If you would rather write, use the quote form and we will call you back.
